Anthro Concern

Fri Jun 12, 2009, 4:54 AM
...I know. I know! Some of them are just amazing, beautifully painted in every fashion known to modern man. HOWEVER just step back a minute.

Isn't it odd? Isn't it all a bit...weird? and not in a good way. It's like. Right...you've made that coyote a hot young man, with an emo fringe - and he's like, lying in his natural habitat in his trousers and shirt.
Then the line between just...poses and characters blurs almost too quickly into "OH LOOK NOW THEY'RE DOING IT".

Take off the emo hair and the trousers and the shirt and you're looking at two animals doing it....and I don't know about you - but that's not really cool.

and I wouldn't usually mind but there's like a daily anthro on the DD thing now and very very soon we're just going to be looking at beautifully painted pictures of animals doing it. There won't be any sinister human element motivating them, it'll be like it is in the animal kingdom. Just doing it. With no ounce of passion, no pound of lust, dark black eyes staring into the distance, jaws slavering, rutting for seconds or hours or minutes for one purpose only, and then they depart without nary a second glance. Animals - with no emotions - no recognizable ones anyway. Slaves to habit and biological imperative.

It's not romantic, it's not mysterious, it's boring. Animals are boring. Relentless anthro art is sinister. It's like putting a bib on a fox and sitting it in a high chair and spoon feeding it custard til it dies. You wouldn't do it. It's an animal, it doesn't want custard. Leave the unhuman species of this planet alone. Human interaction is devoid of romance and mystery enough without trying to force it on another species.

Leave head hair to the only species that can actually grow it properly. Try and humanize that ugly mass instead - it's more of a challenge.
